The Birth of EastWestArtistNYC
As a passionate musician and opera singer, I have walked the same path as countless young artists in New York City. It’s a path filled with dedication, late nights, and the endless pursuit of opportunities to share our craft with the world. Yet, despite the vibrant arts scene, NYC can be a disheartening place for emerging talent. For many, the road to success is not paved with applause but with unfair demands—venues that charge artists to perform, open mics that require fees, and the constant pressure to sell tickets to secure a place on stage. These practices exploit the very passion that fuels our artistry.
I saw too many talented singers and musicians fall victim to these predatory systems. They prepared tirelessly for auditions, spent their hard-earned money on training, only to face rejection or be forced to pay for the privilege of being heard. For these young artists, singing is not just a skill—it’s their lifeline, their expression, their soul. Yet the system stifles their voices before they even have a chance to reach an audience.
At the same time, I realized another barrier: accessibility for the audience. Not everyone can afford Broadway tickets or high-priced concert seats. Many people would rather spend their evenings dining in a cozy restaurant, enjoying a meal with friends, and soaking in the atmosphere. What if we could bridge these worlds? What if we could bring art and authenticity to the places people already love to gather—restaurants, cafés, and galleries—while empowering artists to share their stories and talents?

The Vision of EastWestArtistNYC
EastWestArtistNYC was born from a desire to change the game for young artists and create an inclusive, supportive space where their voices could soar. Our mission is simple yet profound: to provide free live music events that showcase emerging talent while fostering authentic connections between artists and audiences. By partnering with artsy venues and local businesses, we bring the magic of live music to spaces where people dine, relax, and connect, ensuring that art is not just seen but felt by all.
For the artists, these events offer more than just a platform—they provide a community. Performers are not asked to pay fees or sell tickets. Instead, they are given the freedom to share their stories, connect with listeners, and build a genuine following. We want to nurture their growth and provide opportunities for them to perform regularly, keeping their skills sharp and their spirits high.
For the audience, EastWestArtistNYC events are a gift. They can enjoy incredible live performances while dining, sipping cocktails, or exploring galleries. These experiences bring the arts to everyday life, making it accessible to those who may never set foot in a traditional concert hall. And because our events are free to attend, we ensure that everyone—regardless of income—can experience the joy of live music.

Supporting Young Artists and the Community
EastWestArtistNYC also recognizes that most artists live on tight budgets. Many of them forego luxuries like dining out or attending expensive shows, choosing instead to save money by cooking at home. Our mission includes supporting these artists not only through performance opportunities but also by creating a system that uplifts and inspires them. Half of the proceeds from our ticketed meetups and events are donated to nonprofits that support local artists, ensuring that we give back to the community we serve.
Another critical aspect of our mission is fostering diversity and inclusion. At many events we attend, we notice a lack of representation. The spaces are often dominated by Black and White attendees, with little diversity beyond that. For Asian or Eastern people, especially those who are foreigners, mingling can be challenging due to language barriers and cultural differences. These barriers often leave them feeling isolated and excluded. EastWestArtistNYC seeks to change this by creating events that celebrate and embrace diversity, offering a welcoming space for everyone, regardless of their background or language. Our goal is to ensure that all voices, especially those from underrepresented communities, are heard and valued.
By connecting audiences who can afford to dine in fancy restaurants with artists who might not, we create a symbiotic relationship. The artists enrich the atmosphere, and the audiences, in turn, provide invaluable support and exposure. It’s a win-win—a celebration of creativity and connection that breaks down barriers and uplifts everyone involved.

A Future of Equity and Artistry
EastWestArtistNYC is more than just an events platform; it’s a movement. It’s a call to action to stop exploiting young artists and start supporting them. It’s a reminder that art should be accessible to everyone, not just those who can afford a ticket. And it’s a testament to the power of community—of what we can achieve when we come together to share stories, create connections, and amplify the voices of those who need to be heard.
This is just the beginning. With every event, every performance, and every new artist we welcome into our family, we’re building a future where art thrives, not because it’s profitable, but because it’s essential.
